7 Days in Popoyo: A Flexible Surf & Yoga Itinerary

A good week in Popoyo leaves room for surf coaching, yoga and unplanned beach time. Build your trip around a few priorities, then let the actual surf schedule follow the conditions. The itinerary below is a planning example, not a fixed retreat timetable or a list of guaranteed inclusions.

Before arrival: decide what matters most

Choose whether you want a balanced holiday, more time practising yoga or a stronger focus on surfing. Check your arrival and departure times before counting your available sessions. Seven days of travel and seven nights at a retreat are different bookings. Our package page helps you compare the options.

Day 1: arrive and settle in

Keep arrival day simple. Find your room, meet the team and discuss your surfing experience. Share what you can do independently, what you find difficult and what you would like to work on. Check when the next session is planned before making other arrangements.

Day 2: establish your starting point

Use your first planned coaching session to identify one clear focus. It might be positioning on the board, a more consistent pop-up or choosing waves. Afterwards, write down the main feedback in your own words. If yoga is part of your booking, let the teacher know your experience so you can join at a comfortable pace.

Day 3: repeat with intention

Give the same skill another chance rather than chasing a new goal every session. Ask what a successful attempt should look like. Keep the afternoon flexible: read, explore nearby with local advice, or simply enjoy time away from a screen.

Day 4: leave room to adjust

A week does not need to become a test of endurance. Discuss the pace with your coach and make space for rest when needed. If you want an excursion, ask about realistic travel time and whether it fits around your confirmed activities. Our activities page is a starting point for ideas.

Day 5: connect the feedback

Review your notes from the first sessions. What feels more familiar? Where do you still need help? If video feedback is included and available within your program, use it to connect what you felt with what actually happened. Progress can be subtle; it does not have to mean riding a larger wave.

Day 6: enjoy your preferred rhythm

Leave some time for the part of the trip you have enjoyed most. Avoid booking every free hour before you arrive. If your stay includes a Saturday, plan and budget for dinner outside the retreat: Saturday dinner is excluded from the current meal offering.

Day 7: finish with a useful next step

Ask your coach what to practise next and which conditions suit your current ability. Confirm your departure arrangements in advance. A useful takeaway is a realistic plan for continuing, rather than a label that says you have “completed” surfing.
